Crossed: Badlands REVIEWED

Warning - This comic is NOT for young audiences or people easily offended by touchy subjects such as rape. Hello comic book lovers! It's me again, Joshman with my first "indie" comic review. This time, I'll be focusing on Garth Ennis's gory, racy, post-apocalyptic story Crossed: Badlands. Like the warning said folks. This comic is not for kids. Filled with nudity, rape, violence, dismembered limbs and language, you feel like you're reading about Detroit. The comic is published by a company called Avatar who I had never heard of before Crossed: Badlands and is drawn by Jacen Burrows (For the first three issues). C:B has a pretty simple story. A post-apocalyptic world where a mysterious virus (Not explained at all in the issues...yet) spread throughout the Earth that changes everyday normal people into sadistic, raping, killing, maniacs that only want blood. Some even go to the extent of cannibalism. The first three issues of the series take place somewhere in Europe (I think) with the second story arc beginning in issue four taking place in America. The first story arc revolves around a small group of survivors who are on the run from a group of these crazies and they need to find safety. They are accompanied by a brother with his pregnant sister (Incest maybe?) and she is due soon. With no spoilers being given away, it's a pretty climatic and awesome ending. Issue four then just jumps to a COMPLETELY different setting with a whole new cast. Because the series jumps from place to place after only a few issues (The second story arc i believe is running for six issues), I feel it'll be difficult to be able to connect to the characters or feel for them (Like the first story arc) but we'll have to wait and see. If you want a neat story and like end of the world stuff, this is your comic. If you want character development, I suggest going to something more like The Walking Dead where you'll still get the same end of the world feeling. But if you want quick gore and severed limbs and you like brit talk like c**t and prick, this is your comic. REMINDER: NOT FOR KIDS!
